An officer of the rank of Major in the Pakistan Army was martyred and four India-sponsored terrorists were killed during intelligence-based and clearance operations in Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday. According to a statement issued by the military's media wing, intelligence agencies had reported multiple hideouts of Indian-sponsored elements in the areas of Jattakabad in Kalat district and Shadi Kaur in Pasni tehsil of Gwadar district, posing a threat to the local population.
In the first operation, conducted on October 18, 2026, in Jattakabad, security forces engaged the terrorists' location. After an intense exchange of fire, four terrorists were killed, while a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, the statement said.
In a separate development during a series of clearance operations in Shadi Kaur, the lead force component, led by Major Wajahat Waheed, 34, a resident of Lahore, was targeted by an improvised explosive device (IED). He embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, the ISPR said.
The military stated that sanitization operations would continue to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the areas. It added that the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of 'Azm-e-Istehkam', approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace.
Security forces and law-enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, the statement concluded.
