Her organisation, Gloria's Foundation, confirmed that she died peacefully at her home in New York, surrounded by people who loved her. "Gloria's greatest gift was her ability to listen to others, to make others feel seen and heard," the foundation said in a statement. In her final years, the late activist spent time writing and bringing people together at her home. She hosted 'Talking Circles' and welcomed hundreds of people into her living room.
Fans were heartbroken, with many recalling her close friendship with Meghan Markle. The two became close after the Duchess of Sussex moved to the US in 2020. Gloria once described Meghan as "smart, authentic, funny, and political."
