Two people have died and several others were injured, including three police officers, when a gunman opened fire in the US city of Minneapolis on Wednesday, police said.
The suspect was also dead, police spokesperson Garrett Parten said at a press conference, adding that it remained unclear how the attacker died. One person died at the scene, while four were taken to hospital, where one later succumbed to injuries.
Three police officers were also hospitalized, including two with gunshot wounds. Hospital officials said both wounded officers were expected to survive - one was shot in the leg and another underwent surgery - while the nature of the third officer's injury was not immediately clear.
Authorities did not disclose a motive during the press conference. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz urged the public to "pray for Minnesota," and FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that federal agents were responding to the incident. City officials scheduled a follow-up press conference later on Wednesday.
