US Chargé d'Affaires Natalie Ashton Baker Returns From GB Tour, Calls It Amazing

US Chargé d'Affaires Natalie Ashton Baker has returned to Islamabad after an extensive visit to Gilgit-Baltistan, describing the trip as "amazing." "It was an amazing trip! We will start posting about it next week!" she stated.

Sources said it was the first such visit by a senior US diplomat in many months. The government made strict security arrangements, while the host administration extended warm hospitality throughout the duration of the trip.

In Skardu, Baker met Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah at the Governor's House. Sources said the talks focused on development, education cooperation, water resources, electricity, the situation of the Satpara Dam, and the promotion of tourism in the region.

She received a traditional welcome upon arriving in Gilgit, including an event hosted at a local hotel to honor her visit. The local administration ensured that the diplomat was introduced to the cultural heritage of the area.

In Hunza, she toured the historic Hunza Palace in Karimabad at the invitation of former Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly member Prince Saleem Khan. The visit highlighted the cultural significance of the region and its potential for international tourism.

Sources noted that diplomats visit the area under special arrangements and that the government has always encouraged such trips to promote the soft image of Pakistan globally. The visit is being viewed as a positive development in bilateral relations, particularly regarding regional development projects and environmental cooperation.

The US Embassy in Islamabad has indicated that further details and photographs from the trip will be shared on official social media platforms starting next week. Local officials expressed satisfaction with the visit, noting that such high-level interactions help in highlighting the scenic beauty and developmental needs of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The security apparatus remained vigilant throughout the tour, ensuring that the diplomat's movement across Skardu, Gilgit, and Hunza remained smooth and incident-free.
