New York Police Commissioner Praises Muslim Officers

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch has praised the services and contributions of Muslim police officers serving in the New York Police Department (NYPD), describing them as a valuable asset to the department, one of the largest police forces in the United States.

The police commissioner, who was the chief guest at the annual dinner of the Muslim Officers Society (MOS), made these remarks while addressing the gathering, where she appreciated the establishment and role of the MOS. The society's newly elected president, Deputy Inspector Waheed Akhtar, emphasized the importance of professional development and leadership opportunities for Muslim officers, as well as strengthening ties between the police department and the community.

Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch also distributed scholarships to the children of society members in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements during the event.

Several police officers were presented with shields in recognition of their exceptional professional performance and dedication to public service within the department. The raffle prizes included valuable items and tickets for performing Umrah, adding a spiritual and celebratory spirit to the annual gathering.

The dinner was attended by senior NYPD officials, the Consul General of Pakistan, diplomats from other countries, and a large number of members of the Muslim community. Community leaders noted that such events foster mutual understanding and highlight the positive role played by Muslim law enforcement professionals in American society.

The New York Police Department continues to engage with diverse cultural and religious groups to build trust and ensure inclusive representation across all ranks. Organizers concluded the evening by thanking Commissioner Jessica S.

Tisch and all attendees for their continuous support toward the advancement and welfare of Muslim police officers.
