Olivia Rodrigo had remained tight-lipped about the possibility of a deluxe edition of her album, GUTS, but she has finally hinted at the project. The 21-year-old pop superstar hosted a livestream with her producer Dan Nigro and asked him about his favourite song he has ever made, which he previously admitted was not on the album.
While trying to remain mysterious, Nigro replied that the song is still unreleased and is not 'Serena Joy'. Although it seemed obvious that the 'vampire' hitmaker and her producer were attempting to keep details under wraps, they told fans they would "find out" what they are talking about soon.
Fans reacted with excitement; one noted, "That's why I didn't buy my vinyl yet." Another exclaimed, "I need the deluxe 'Cigarette Smoke' please!" Some theorised that the deluxe version might contain original tracks or songs with added bridges, while others clamoured for a rock version of 'Cigarette Smoke'.
The anticipation surrounding the potential release has reached a fever pitch across social media platforms. Rodrigo, known for her cryptic social media presence, has often used her platform to tease upcoming musical ventures, keeping her dedicated fanbase constantly engaged.
Industry experts suggest that a deluxe edition is a strategic move for artists in the streaming era to maintain album longevity. By adding unreleased tracks, artists can re-engage listeners and boost their chart performance significantly.
Dan Nigro, who has been instrumental in shaping Rodrigo's sound, remains a key figure in her creative process. Their collaborative chemistry has been a cornerstone of the success of both 'SOUR' and 'GUTS'.
As the conversation continues, fans are scouring the internet for any leaked snippets or clues regarding the tracklist. The mention of 'Cigarette Smoke' has become a focal point for many, with listeners hoping for an official studio version.
Rodrigo's team has yet to provide an official release date or tracklist, leaving the public to speculate on the timeline. However, given the nature of the livestream, many believe an announcement is imminent.
The music industry is closely watching how this potential release will impact the current charts. Rodrigo's ability to turn a simple livestream into a global trending topic highlights her massive influence on modern pop culture.
Ultimately, whether the deluxe edition features new ballads or high-energy rock anthems, the excitement remains palpable. Fans are ready to embrace whatever new content the Grammy-winning artist decides to share next.
