Pakistan-Turkiye Relations Reaching New Heights: Envoy

Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to Pakistan, Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, has said that following the Makkah Defence Alliance, relations between Pakistan and Turkiye are reaching new heights. However, he noted that the potential for mutual cooperation remains immense, and both countries must continue working towards achieving tangible results in pursuit of their shared vision.

He expressed these views while addressing an international webinar organised by the Dost: Pakistan-Turkiye Friendship Forum. The Turkish Ambassador stated that the strong bilateral relations between the two countries rest not only on institutional cooperation but also on sincere friendship and enduring bonds between their peoples.

In this regard, he added, the contributions of the Dost: Pakistan-Turkiye Friendship Forum were unforgettable, and he paid tribute to the organisation for its valuable services. Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, said that the global balance of power was undergoing a transformation.

Against this backdrop, the defence agreement among three powerful Muslim nations marked an extraordinary turning point in history. He emphasised the need to further strengthen academic and educational cooperation among Muslim countries and to extend defence collaboration into the domain of trade and commerce to make this cooperation more beneficial.

Chairman of the National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Wa Khatam-un-Nabiyyin Authority Pakistan, Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Nadeem, stated that Allama Iqbal had envisioned the establishment of a League of Nations for Muslim countries. The Makkah Defence Alliance, he observed, represented a significant step forward towards that goal.

He added that the balance established in Turkish democracy between the state and the religious beliefs of the people offered a model worthy of emulation, not only for Pakistan but for the entire Muslim world. Former Consul General of Turkiye in Karachi, Dr. Cemal Sangu; eminent intellectual Dr. Saadat Saeed; President of the Dost: Pakistan-Turkiye Friendship Forum, Dr. Farooq Adil; Vice President Professor Dr. Khalil Touqaar; Secretary General Dr. Muhammad Kamran; Professor Dr. Sadaf Naqvi; and Honorary Business Consul of Pakistan in Turkiye, Ahmet Khan, also addressed the webinar.

On the occasion, the Forum announced that it would soon organise an international seminar to mark the 500th anniversary of the Mughal Empire. A research-based book will also be published as part of this initiative.

The event concluded with a consensus that such intellectual exchanges are vital for fostering deeper ties between the two nations. Participants agreed that the historical, cultural, and religious commonalities between Pakistan and Turkiye provide a solid foundation for future strategic partnerships.

The speakers reiterated their commitment to promoting bilateral dialogue at all levels, ensuring that the spirit of brotherhood remains at the forefront of their diplomatic and social engagements.
