Pokémon Unite Servers to Shut Down in 2027, Five Years After Launch

The Pokémon Company announced on Tuesday, October 27, that Pokémon Unite will go offline five years after its launch. The Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), which rolled out in 2021, will be closed down and its servers taken offline in 2027, rendering the game unplayable, except for a library feature that enables players to review past records.

The Pokémon Company shared an update on Tuesday morning, revealing that support for Pokémon Unite will officially end on March 23, 2027. The publisher confirmed that the decision impacts both the mobile and Nintendo Switch versions of the game.

However, the game will remain functional until that date. The shutdown will occur in stages; the first, effective immediately, is the removal of the ability to purchase in-game currency, Aeos Gems.

Players with leftover currency or active Unite Club memberships can continue to use these assets until the shutdown deadline. The company has disabled the auto-renewal option for subscriptions.

Despite the closure, a final in-game event will commence on November 12. Additionally, the Pokémon Company confirmed that the Pokémon Unite Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo Competitive Tournament will proceed as scheduled, with qualifiers beginning on December 5.
