The Punjab School Education Department has officially clarified that no decision has been made to suspend classes across the province, dismissing circulating notifications as fake and urging the public to ignore misinformation. Similarly, the Punjab Higher Education Department rejected a separate fake notification regarding the closure of colleges and universities, confirming that all institutions will operate on their normal schedules.
Meanwhile, authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have announced closures in specific districts. In Peshawar, all public and private educational institutions will remain closed on Monday, according to an official announcement issued on Sunday.
This decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff amidst the current administrative situation in the provincial capital. In Malakand district, all schools and colleges will remain closed for two days.
The district administration cited local security concerns as the primary reason for this temporary suspension of academic activities. Similarly, in Lower Dir, the district administration announced that all educational institutions will remain closed on October 12 and 13.
Separately, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Bannu has postponed all Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual-II examination papers scheduled for Monday until further notice. The board officials stated that the new dates for these examinations will be announced in due course, advising students to stay updated through official channels.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Malakand has also postponed all SSC Annual-II 2026 examination papers. This move is part of a broader effort to manage the logistical challenges posed by the current security environment in the region.
These measures come amid heightened security concerns in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Local administrations are continuously monitoring the situation and have assured the public that decisions regarding the reopening of institutions will be made based on ground realities.
The provincial government has requested parents and students to rely solely on verified information released by the relevant departments. Officials emphasized that spreading unverified notifications creates unnecessary panic and disrupts the academic calendar.
In Punjab, the authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible for creating and circulating fake notifications. The cybercrime wing has been alerted to track the sources of such misinformation.
As of now, the situation in Punjab remains stable, with all educational activities proceeding as planned. The government remains committed to ensuring that the educational process continues without any hindrance.
The public is encouraged to check the official websites and social media handles of the respective education departments for any updates regarding school timings or potential closures in the future.
