Maryam Vows Equal Opportunities, Protection, and Empowerment for Girls

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on the International Day of the Girl Child, stated that daughters are a blessing from Allah Almighty and a valuable asset to society. She emphasized that providing daughters with equal opportunities in education, healthcare, protection, and development is a collective responsibility.

Empowering girls is essential for laying the foundation of a strong, prosperous, and progressive society. The Chief Minister stressed the need to highlight the importance of protecting girls' rights, promoting their education, and taking measures to make them independent.

She stated that every girl deserves a safe and supportive environment where she can fulfill her dreams and contribute to the development of the nation. The courage, determination, and capabilities of girls have the power to change the world, she added, urging them to move forward with confidence and assuring them that the government stands by their side.

"Our daughters, sisters, and girls are the future of the nation. Their upbringing and care are not only their right but also a national responsibility," she remarked.

Maryam noted that the Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive roadmap for the education, protection, healthcare, and welfare of girls and women. Providing equal educational opportunities and ensuring a bright future for them remains a top priority.

She highlighted that the government has distributed laptops to facilitate access to education, while scholarships are being provided to remove barriers. A scooty scheme has also been introduced to assist female students in commuting to schools and colleges.

The Chief Minister mentioned that a 'Pink Button' has been introduced to provide girls with a safer environment, and a Women Virtual Police Station has been established to ensure protection and provide immediate assistance. Female students have also been provided with free travel facilities on electric buses.

Separately, CM Maryam Nawaz strongly condemned the Houthi militia's attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. She expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, stating that Houthi attacks are a blatant violation of international law.

She reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and security, noting that the people of Pakistan stand firmly with the Kingdom.
