Seven Killed As Jeep Plunges Into Ravine In Muzaffarabad

MUZAFFARABAD/SANGHAR: Seven people, including two children, were killed when a passenger jeep plunged into a ravine after its brakes failed in Saire Dara near Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, according to police sources. Initial reports said the jeep was travelling towards Saire Dara when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to brake failure before it plunged into a deep ravine, resulting in the deaths of at least seven people on the spot.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched emergency operations following the incident. Local volunteers also assisted in retrieving the bodies from the difficult terrain.

The deceased were shifted to a nearby medical facility for legal formalities before being handed over to their respective families for burial. Meanwhile, five people were killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger coach and a car on Sunday in Sanghar.

According to rescue officials, the accident occurred on Tando Adam Jhool Road in Sanghar due to overspeeding and poor visibility. Emergency teams shifted the deceased and the injured to Taluka Hospital Tando Adam immediately after receiving information about the crash.

Four people died on the spot, while a fifth victim, a woman identified as Gulaye Kolhi, succumbed to her injuries while being transported to a hospital in Hyderabad. Hospital authorities confirmed that the condition of two injured passengers remains critical, raising concerns that the death toll could rise further.

District administration officials have appealed to drivers to exercise extreme caution on highways and mountainous terrain to prevent such tragedies.
