The Sindh cabinet has approved an increase in the upper age limit for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) from 30 to 33 years, while also increasing the number of attempts allowed for the examination from three to five. The decisions were taken at a Sindh cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at the CM House in Karachi, according to an official spokesperson.
The cabinet approved a comprehensive series of administrative reforms concerning the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC), which include structural changes to the age limits, the permissible number of examination attempts, and the minimum qualifying marks for the CCE. Under the newly approved regulatory changes, eligible candidates will now be allowed to appear in the competitive examination up to five times instead of the existing limit of three attempts.
Furthermore, the upper age limit for appearing in the examination has been raised by three years, moving from 30 years to 33 years to facilitate more aspirants from across the province. In a related decision, the provincial cabinet also approved reducing the minimum qualifying marks for CCE 2026 from 40 percent to 33 percent to encourage wider success among candidates.
In another major modernization initiative, the cabinet approved the introduction of computerised testing for all examinations comprising a single paper, the spokesperson added. During the course of the meeting, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also briefed the provincial cabinet on the outcomes of his recent official visit to China.
The meeting thoroughly discussed a total of 29 agenda items relating to various provincial government departments and future development strategies. Provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants, the chief secretary, and other senior government officials attended the important session.
