Stephanie March Returns to Law & Order: SVU as Alexandra Cabot

Stephanie March is officially returning to the long-running crime drama Law & Order: SVU to reprise her iconic role as Alexandra Cabot. Fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting her comeback, and it has been confirmed that she will appear in the ninth episode of Season 28.

This marks her first appearance on the show since 2018, sparking significant excitement among the dedicated fanbase of the procedural drama. Reports regarding the specific airdate have been conflicting.

TheWrap suggests the episode is scheduled to air on 3 December, while The Hollywood Reporter maintains that NBC has not yet finalized an official broadcast date. Regardless of the timing, the network is keeping the plot details surrounding Cabot's return strictly under wraps, leaving viewers to speculate about the circumstances of her reappearance.

March originally joined the series as a regular cast member in 2000, portraying the assistant district attorney from Season 2 until the early episodes of Season 5 in 2003. Her character's departure was one of the most memorable moments in the show's history, as Cabot faked her own death to enter witness protection after being targeted by a dangerous criminal cartel.

Since her initial exit, March has made several guest appearances, returning to the screen in Seasons 6, 10, 11, and 13. Her most recent return occurred in 2018 during the Season 19 episode titled "Sunk Cost Fallacy." Beyond the main series, she also brought the character of Alexandra Cabot to life in the 2006 spinoff series titled Conviction, further cementing the character's legacy within the franchise.

There is some debate among industry publications regarding her total episode count. Variety estimates that she has appeared in more than 100 episodes throughout her tenure, while TV Insider calculates the upcoming appearance as her 98th.

Regardless of the exact number, her contribution to the series remains a cornerstone of its success. Reflecting on her 2018 return, March shared with Today that the process began with a simple text message from the production team asking if she would be interested in coming back.

Her immediate response was a casual, "Why not?" At the time, showrunner Michael Chernuchin praised her involvement, stating that she is essentially "part of SVU's DNA." Outside of the Law & Order universe, Stephanie March has built a diverse career in film and television.

Her other notable credits include performances in Ricky Gervais' The Invention of Lying, the drama Who We Are Now, and the film The Social Ones. Her return to the courtroom in SVU is expected to be a major highlight for the current season.
