Mahira Khan Denies Social Media Claims Regarding Support for Protests in India

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has officially denied sharing any story on her personal Instagram account regarding political protests in India. A viral social media post recently claimed that the actress expressed support for an anti-government protest in Delhi, stating she could not attend the event because the Indian government has banned Pakistani actors from entering the country.

Khan has categorically denied making this statement. On 8 October, a user on the social media platform X shared a nine-second video claiming that Khan expressed support for a protest against India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was scheduled for 10 October in Delhi.

The misleading post alleged that Khan shared an Instagram story stating: "I can't come because the BJP has banned Pakistani actors from entering India. Hopefully, after this protest, relations between India and Pakistan will improve again." At the time of writing, the post had received minimal engagement, with only 13 likes and 2,683 views.

The same claim was subsequently shared on other platforms, including Instagram, causing confusion among followers. However, the actress has made no such comment regarding the protests organized by the youth movement in India.

The narrative appears to be a fabrication intended to stir controversy. In recent weeks, opposition parties and young activists in India have been holding demonstrations calling for the resignation of the chief election commissioner over alleged irregularities and revisions to voter lists.

These local political developments have no connection to the Pakistani film industry. Geo Fact Check contacted Mahira Khan directly to verify the authenticity of the claim.

Khan denied the report entirely, replying with a simple: "No." A thorough review of her account at the time of writing showed three active Instagram stories; none of them contained the statement or referred to the protests in any capacity. Furthermore, an extensive search by fact-checking teams found no reports in reputable Pakistani or Indian media outlets that would support the claim.

The viral video lacks any credible source or evidence of the actress ever posting such content. The spread of misinformation involving public figures has become a recurring issue on social media.

Fans and followers are advised to rely on verified accounts and official statements rather than unverified screenshots or edited videos. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of digital literacy.

The ease with which fake screenshots can be generated often leads to the rapid spread of false narratives that can damage reputations. Verdict: Mahira Khan has officially denied sharing the Instagram story attributed to her, confirming the claim is entirely false.
