Achakzai, Allama Nasir doing nothing to secure Imran's release: Saif

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has levelled a series of allegations against opposition leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, questioning their efforts towards securing party founder Imran Khan's release. Speaking on the matter, he also took aim at National Assembly Opposition Leader Achakzai, saying the veteran politician was unwilling to sit with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for negotiations on Imran's behalf.

Saif said Achakzai had obtained a seat he had lost with the help of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, yet was not prepared to engage with PM Shehbaz for talks concerning the incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder. He further said Achakzai had gone to Quetta at a crucial stage of the negotiation process, leaving the party high and dry during a critical political juncture.

According to Saif, Imran had made Achakzai opposition leader so that he could engage with the government and build a strong political narrative, but he was doing nothing for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder. Saif also alleged that Achakzai had contacted Nawaz and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to secure his son's release, prioritising personal family matters over national political goals.

Turning again to Raja Nasir, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader said his thinking was limited to local administration, adding that former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur had helped him become a senator. Saif argued that these allied figures failed to deliver when the party needed them the most on the grand political chessboard.

The remarks from Barrister Saif highlight growing internal tensions and friction between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its political allies regarding the strategy and seriousness of efforts aimed at securing relief for the jailed former premier. Political analysts note that such public outbursts could potentially strain opposition unity inside Parliament.

Barrister Saif reiterated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and leadership remain steadfast in their demand for the rule of law and the immediate release of Imran Khan. He asserted that true resistance against the incumbent regime can only be mounted through genuine struggle rather than relying on half-hearted political alliances.

The ruling coalition partners have frequently accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of destabilising the political landscape through persistent agitation, while opposition figures maintain that state machinery is being utilised to suppress democratic norms and curtail fundamental rights across the country. As political maneuvering continues in Islamabad, the effectiveness of the opposition alliance remains a subject of intense debate among political circles.

Observers believe that a unified opposition strategy is essential for mounting a credible challenge to the government, making these recent verbal clashes counterproductive. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has repeatedly stressed that all legal and political avenues are being explored to ensure Imran Khan walks free.

However, differences over leadership roles and tactical approaches within the broader opposition camp continue to surface publicly from time to time. The ongoing political saga in Pakistan underscores the fragile nature of alliances forged under pressure, where divergent interests often overshadow collective goals, leaving party spokespersons like Barrister Saif to voice deep frustrations over perceived inaction by key political partners.
