Sindh cuts school hours across province with immediate effect

The Sindh government on Wednesday reduced school operating hours by one hour across the province, with the revised timings taking immediate effect. The decision comes as part of ongoing adjustments to the educational schedule in the region.

The schools will continue to operate five days a week, according to a notification issued by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department. The administration aims to balance instructional time while managing environmental or operational constraints.

A spokesperson said the new timings would remain in force until further orders, directing educational institution heads and field officers to ensure strict implementation of the order across all public and private campuses.

Last month, the Sindh government restored Saturday as a weekly holiday in all educational institutions across the province. At the time, the provincial education department said that teaching activities would take place from Monday to Friday, reducing the academic week to five working days while extending daily hours.
