The noose is tightening around government officers concealing their dual nationality, as the Establishment Division has initiated the process of taking action against those who have failed to submit the required declarations. According to sources, the Establishment Division has sent a summary to the Prime Minister's Office, seeking PM's authorisation to take action against officers who have not submitted declarations regarding their dual nationality.
The summary sent to the PM seeks permission to initiate proceedings against officers in grades 20, 21 and 22. Government officers found guilty of misconduct may face withholding of promotion, compulsory retirement and dismissal from service.
Show-cause notices will be issued to government officers after Prime Minister's approval. Of the 2,917 government officers, 62.5 percent have not submitted declarations regarding dual nationality.
Among those who have submitted their declarations, only 8.68 percent have disclosed their foreign nationality. Those who have failed to submit declarations also include officers in Grades 20, 21 and 22.
The officers concerned belong to Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), Secretariat Group and Office Management Group (OMG). Further departmental inquiries will be conducted to ensure transparency and accountability within the civil bureaucracy.
