Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has leveled a series of allegations against opposition leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, questioning their commitment to securing the release of the party's incarcerated founder, Imran Khan. Speaking on a television program, Saif targeted National Assembly Opposition Leader Achakzai, asserting that the veteran politician has been unwilling to engage in negotiations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on behalf of the PTI founder.
Saif claimed that Achakzai secured a parliamentary seat he had initially lost with the assistance of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, yet remains reluctant to hold talks with PM Shehbaz regarding the PTI founder's release. He further alleged that Achakzai departed for Quetta during a critical juncture in the negotiation process.
According to Saif, Imran Khan appointed Achakzai as the opposition leader specifically to facilitate dialogue with the government, but he has failed to deliver. Saif also accused Achakzai of reaching out to Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to secure his son's release.
Addressing Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, the PTI leader remarked that his political vision was "limited to the deputy commissioner, tehsildar, and patwari," adding that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had played a pivotal role in his election as a senator.
The statements have sparked a fresh debate within political circles regarding the internal dynamics of the opposition alliance. Analysts suggest that these remarks reflect growing frustration within the PTI leadership over the perceived lack of progress in securing legal and political relief for their founder.
Barrister Saif emphasized that the party expects its allies to prioritize the national cause over personal interests. He warned that such behavior undermines the collective struggle of the opposition against the current administration.
The opposition leaders mentioned in the allegations have not yet issued a formal rebuttal to these claims. Political observers are closely monitoring the situation to see if this rift will impact the future of the opposition's parliamentary strategy.
As the political temperature rises, the role of intermediaries in the ongoing power struggle remains a point of contention. The PTI continues to maintain that its primary objective is the release of Imran Khan, and any deviation from this path by its allies is viewed with suspicion.
The government, meanwhile, has maintained a stance of non-interference in the internal affairs of the opposition, though it continues to face pressure from various quarters regarding the political climate in the country. The coming days are expected to be crucial as the opposition attempts to reconcile these internal differences to present a united front in the National Assembly.
