Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the nation on the upgrade of Pakistan's sovereign credit rating from Caa1 to B3 by Moody's. In a statement on Monday, the prime minister welcomed the upgrade and commended the efforts of the government's economic team. He also lauded Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and all ministers and officials concerned for this achievement.

Shehbaz said the improvement in Pakistan's credit rating reflects global confidence in the government's economic policies and reforms. He said the recognition of Pakistan's improving economic condition by international financial institutions and rating agencies is welcome. He noted that Pakistan's economy is heading towards stability, and the upgrade by international institutions is clear evidence of this.

He said the government has taken effective steps to stabilise the economy and improve the external sector. He further said that international institutions' confidence in Pakistan is growing due to the government's consistent efforts and reforms for economic stability. The premier said the government would further expedite the reform process to build Pakistan's economy on sustainable foundations, adding that the goal is to make Pakistan a strong, self-reliant, and sustainable economy.

Meanwhile, the prime minister formally launched Pakistan's National Olive Value Chain Policy, describing the country's growing olive sector as a rare success story capable of transforming national agriculture and easing the pressure of a multi-billion-dollar edible oil import bill. Addressing farmers, growers, diplomats, and young entrepreneurs at a ceremony organised in collaboration with the Italian government, he said Pakistan currently spends around $4 billion annually importing crude edible oil, which could be significantly reduced by expanding domestic olive cultivation. The prime minister also thanked international partners for their continued support.
