Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar dies of cardiac arrest at 75

Indian veteran actor Nana Patekar has passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Goa, Indian media reported on Thursday. Hospital sources, cited by New Delhi Television (NDTV), said doctors attempted to revive the Bollywood actor for nearly 45 minutes after he was brought in, but there was no response.

"Nana Patekar was brought dead to the hospital... he was declared dead by 5:30am. We tried our best to save him, but he was brought dead.

Cardiac massage was given for almost 45 minutes to an hour, but he could not be saved," Dr. Shekhar Salkar told Asian News International (ANI). The doctor stated that the actor had sent a message to a friend at approximately 2:30am stating he was unwell.

"Because it was nighttime, his friend did not see the message. He called him instead and arrived at his house around 4:00am.

By that time, he was sweating profusely and losing consciousness. They sent his caretaker to the hospital and requested our ambulance," Dr. Salkar added.

When our emergency team arrived, they initiated cardiac massage as he was unresponsive. He was shifted to our hospital around 4:20am or 4:30am.

"We tried our best, but he was brought dead," he concluded, highlighting the sudden and tragic nature of the veteran actor's passing. Tributes have started pouring in from across the Indian film fraternity, with fans, colleagues, and politicians expressing deep grief over the loss.

Nana Patekar was widely respected for his intense performances, unique dialogue delivery, and immense contribution to parallel and commercial cinema alike. This is a developing story and further details regarding his funeral and final rites are expected to be released by his family soon.
