The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Rawalpindi Circle has dismantled an international cyber fraud network during a raid on a call center operating within a private housing society on Chakri Road, arresting several suspects involved in the scheme. According to an agency spokesperson, the network specifically targeted Australian citizens through fictitious Telegram profiles, luring victims with fake investment and romance schemes.
The call center served as a central hub for the coordinated operation against foreign nationals. During the operation, law enforcement officers seized computer systems, servers, and mobile devices used to execute the fraud.
The confiscated equipment has been placed in custody for forensic examination to aid the ongoing investigation and to recover digital evidence of the illicit transactions. Formal cases have been registered against the network's key operators, managers, and team leaders under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.
Investigators are currently working to identify additional members of the syndicate and assess the full extent of financial losses incurred by the victims, which are estimated to be in the millions. Addressing the operation, NCCIA Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi reiterated the agency's zero-tolerance stance against cybercrime.
He emphasized that the NCCIA remains committed to taking decisive action against perpetrators of digital fraud operating both domestically and internationally to protect public property and safeguard citizens from digital threats. The agency has also urged the public to remain vigilant against suspicious online communications and to report any fraudulent activities to the relevant authorities immediately.
This successful raid marks a significant milestone in the agency's efforts to curb transnational cybercrime originating from Pakistani soil. Furthermore, the NCCIA is coordinating with international law enforcement agencies to share intelligence regarding the victims and the modus operandi of the gang.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen the case against the arrested individuals and ensure that justice is served for the affected Australian citizens. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are expected as the digital forensic team continues to analyze the seized data.
The agency has assured that all legal procedures will be followed to ensure a watertight case in the court of law. The crackdown on this specific call center is part of a broader initiative by the NCCIA to clean up the digital landscape in Rawalpindi and surrounding areas.
The agency continues to monitor various suspicious activities to prevent similar rackets from emerging in the future. As the legal proceedings move forward, the NCCIA remains focused on dismantling the entire infrastructure of such criminal syndicates.
The agency's proactive approach is being lauded as a necessary step in maintaining the country's reputation in the global digital economy. The NCCIA has reiterated that no individual or group involved in such illegal activities will be spared, and the agency will continue to utilize all available resources to combat the evolving threats of cybercrime in the modern era.
