A high-level delegation from the Federative Republic of Brazil, led by Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Brazil, on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

Upon arrival at the GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent. The ceremony underscored the importance Pakistan places on its growing diplomatic and military outreach to South American nations.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment, and specific avenues for enhancing bilateral defence and security cooperation. The dialogue focused on long-term strategic partnerships.

They expressed satisfaction with the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and Brazil and agreed to further strengthen military-to-military collaboration. The leadership emphasized that such high-level exchanges are vital for regional and global stability.

The COAS emphasized Pakistan's commitment to strengthening defence ties with Brazil, noting that both nations share common interests in maintaining peace and security. He highlighted the potential for joint training exercises and knowledge sharing.

The visiting dignitary appreciated the professionalism and operational preparedness of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He specifically acknowledged their significant contributions towards regional peace and stability, particularly in counter-terrorism efforts.

Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire lauded the discipline and tactical proficiency displayed by the Pakistani troops. He expressed his country's desire to learn from Pakistan's extensive experience in border management and internal security.

The visit reflects the shared resolve of Pakistan and Brazil to deepen defence cooperation and strengthen bilateral military ties, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement issued following the meeting.
