GTA 6 weapon system overhaul limits guns, adds car trunk and smarter NPCs

Grand Theft Auto VI 'Extended Look' has sparked buzz on social media since its premiere on Netflix on August 27. Rockstar Games has made one thing clear with the showcase release, and that's the GTA 6 limited weapons system inventory. Rockstar Games' previous titles gave the GTA community a free hand in weapons storage, but the recent gameplay footage suggests the publisher aims to change the game forever.

GTA 6 gameplay details that surfaced so far in its Netflix debut point to a limited weapon inventory, car trunk storage and in-depth customisation, alongside smarter NPCs when exposed to visible firearms. According to details recently shared on the X handle @DiscussingFilm, the game will feature a much more restricted weapon system, limiting players to four inventory slots - two long-range weapons, one pistol, and one melee weapon.

While other weapons can be shelved in a car trunk or somewhere else in a hideout, with more immersive gameplay, NPCs will instantly notice if you draw your weapon. The idea of a limited weapon system inventory could fundamentally change how players tackle missions, police chases, and even routine trips through Vice City if it becomes reality.

However, Rockstar has not yet released a complete technical breakdown of every GTA 6 weapon system, with the official release scheduled for November 19, 2026. Fans and gaming enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting further announcements regarding the game's mechanics and overall performance across different platforms.
