PMD forecasts hotter weather for Karachi starting Monday

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather advisory for Karachi, forecasting a rise in temperatures starting Monday. According to the latest meteorological data, the maximum temperature in the port city is expected to fluctuate between 36°C and 38°C throughout the coming week.

The Met Office explained that shifting atmospheric patterns are likely to disrupt the flow of sea breezes, which typically provide relief to the coastal metropolis. This reduction in the cooling effect of sea winds is the primary driver behind the anticipated increase in heat intensity.

Despite the forecast for warmer conditions, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reassured residents that the mercury will remain within the seasonal norms typical for the month of October. Officials noted that while the heat may feel more pronounced, it does not currently constitute a heatwave event.

Current weather observations indicate that Karachi is experiencing partly cloudy skies. Southwesterly winds are currently blowing at a speed of 10 to 20 kilometres per hour, maintaining a relatively moderate climate before the expected shift in weather patterns begins on Monday.

In a broader outlook for the country, the weather department has identified the arrival of a new westerly weather system. This system is projected to enter the upper and northern regions of Pakistan starting October 12, bringing a change in the overall atmospheric pressure across the country.

The impact of this westerly system is expected to be felt in various parts of Balochistan, where there is a distinct possibility of rainfall. Meteorological experts are closely monitoring the movement of this system to determine if it will bring any significant drop in temperatures to the southern provinces.

Residents of Karachi are advised to stay updated through official channels as the weather conditions evolve. The PMD continues to track the humidity levels and wind directions to provide timely alerts to the public regarding any further fluctuations in the city's climate.

The transition between seasons often brings such variations in temperature, and the current forecast is consistent with the historical weather data for this time of year. Authorities have not issued any emergency warnings at this stage, as the expected temperatures are within the manageable range for the local population.

As the week progresses, the Met Office will continue to release daily updates to ensure that citizens are well-informed about the heat levels. The combination of the rising mercury and the potential for moisture-laden winds will be the key factors determining the comfort levels for Karachiites in the coming days.

Overall, the country is bracing for a mix of warm coastal weather and the onset of a new weather system in the north, highlighting the diverse climatic conditions currently prevailing across Pakistan.
