Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, acting on the special directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, distributed cheques worth Rs2.6 million each among the families of Pakistanis martyred in Somalia. According to a statement issued by the Governor House on Thursday, the governor presented the cheques as financial assistance and support for the provision of residential plots during a solemn ceremony held in Karachi.
The financial support package aims to provide immediate relief and long-term security to the dependent relatives of the deceased citizens who lost their lives abroad under tragic circumstances. The cheques were officially handed over to the bereaved families of martyrs Mahmood Ansari, Syed Kashif Umar and Raufullah Khan in the presence of senior provincial government and administrative officials.
On the occasion, the grieving family members extended their heartfelt gratitude to the prime minister and the government of Pakistan for extending timely financial support and standing by them. The brother of martyr Raufullah Khan spoke to the media after receiving the assistance, stating that the federal and provincial governments stood firmly by the affected families during their extremely difficult time.
Similarly, the son of martyr Syed Kashif Umar and the immediate family members of martyr Mahmood Ansari also expressed their profound appreciation to the federal government for its persistent care. The families further commended the government's tireless diplomatic and administrative efforts to successfully repatriate the bodies of the martyrs from Somalia back to Pakistan for proper burial.
Governor Kamran Tessori assured the families that the state would not abandon them and would continue to facilitate them in every possible sphere of life as a national duty and moral obligation. The federal administration has reiterated its resolve to ensure the welfare of overseas Pakistanis and the protection of citizens both within the country and across international borders.
