Selma Blair was arrested after an incident aboard a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York on Sunday, according to reports. Port Authority police said officers responded to a report of a physically abusive passenger aboard Delta Flight 938 at around 11 p.m., after it arrived at JFK.
They identified the passenger as Blair, 54, who was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation. Two flight attendants reported injuries, and one was hospitalized.
TMZ reported that Blair allegedly tried to open the plane's door mid-flight, punched one attendant, and bit another. Dispatch audio obtained by the outlet requested medical personnel at the gate for "minor injuries," including a bloody nose and bite marks.
Other reports indicate she was later accused of kicking a police officer and assaulting a nurse. Federal officials confirmed they were notified of a potential assault but declined to comment on ongoing investigations.
Blair's representative told the media: "Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct." She received immediate medical attention after landing and is in stable condition, the representative said. Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018.
Her representative did not provide further details regarding the specific nature of the medical episode. The incident has sparked widespread discussion regarding passenger safety and the handling of medical emergencies on commercial aircraft.
Delta Air Lines has stated it is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities. Legal experts suggest that while medical emergencies can be a mitigating factor, the severity of the alleged physical altercations could lead to federal charges if the investigation proceeds.
The actress remains under medical supervision as authorities continue to review flight logs and witness statements from the crew and passengers. Further updates are expected as the investigation into the conduct aboard Flight 938 concludes in the coming days.
