Three Arrested Over Alleged Gang Rape of Azerbaijani Woman in Lahore

Police arrested three suspects on Saturday over the alleged gang rape of a 22-year-old Azerbaijani woman inside a Lahore flat, DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza announced. Speaking at a press conference, DIG Raza stated that the suspects also stole the victim's purse and mobile phone after the assault.

The official explained that the police responded after a passer-by called Emergency 15, and subsequent medical examinations confirmed the woman had been attacked. According to her statement before a judicial magistrate, the victim had travelled to Pakistan for business in late September and was assaulted at a rented flat in the Defence area after being forced to drink alcohol.

'During the investigation, the suspects confessed to their crime,' DIG Raza said, adding that one more suspect remains at large and will be apprehended soon. In a related development on Saturday, Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood sent a female suspect accused of facilitating the crime on judicial remand until October 17 following a three-day physical remand.
