According to a handout issued on Thursday by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) ex-officio chairman/returning officer and Attorney General, immediately after the 2025 elections, the degrees of all newly elected members were directly verified by their respective universities. Notifications for all members were issued only after the verification process was successfully completed by the relevant administrative departments and legal scrutiny committees.

The PBC maintained that as part of this rigorous process, the degrees of all members were sent to their respective universities and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for formal verification. This verification protocol applied uniformly to all candidates, including those whose credentials had already been verified during previous election cycles or tenure periods.

Legal experts and senior members of the legal fraternity have welcomed the clarification, stating that it puts to rest any unnecessary speculation or controversy surrounding the professional credentials of the newly elected leadership. The council emphasized that upholding the highest standards of professional integrity and transparency remains its topmost priority, ensuring that only qualified individuals represent the apex legal body.

With the verification phase now formally concluded, the newly elected members are fully positioned to assume their official responsibilities and steer the council toward addressing critical legal reforms. The Pakistan Bar Council reiterated its commitment to maintaining institutional transparency, safeguarding the dignity of the legal profession, and ensuring strict adherence to constitutional norms across all its operations.
