Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Agree to Form Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have agreed to constitute a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms. According to sources, it has been agreed that the chairmanship of the Electoral Reforms Committee will be given to the PPP.

The committee will include representatives of all the political parties in parliament, the sources said. The PPP has been pushing the PML-N for the formation of a parliamentary committee for electoral reforms from day one after becoming a coalition partner.

It is expected that a resolution for the formation of the committee will be presented in the upcoming sessions of the Senate and the National Assembly separately. The Speaker of the National Assembly will consult parliamentary leaders in the National Assembly for nominees in the parliamentary committee.

Meanwhile, the Senate Chairman will notify the names of senators in the committee following consultation with parliamentary leaders in the Senate.
